FG approves New Medical institution in Nigeria

The National Universities Commission NUC has  recognized the new Bayelsa Medical University Yenegoa, BMU as the 4th public medical institution , and one of the 170 enlisted universities in Nigeria. Having Fulfilled all necessary requirement from the commission. 
The Executive Secretary NUC, Prof. A.A Rasheed, made this known  at the recognition ceremony of the Bayelsa Medical University .
He stressed the need for Nigerian universities  to be revived, reformed, and also strive to be rated as best in the world .
“We have to reinvent universities. If we do not open up our universities, to attract people of other nations, and other cultures, then we shall continue to be answering  unsatisfactory question”
He charged institutions in the country to strive to be ranked among the best in the world.
The Governor of Bayelsa state,  Seriake Dickson noted that investing in education is a great asset. 
“This has been my priority in all my years of service. Am giving assurance that the newly approved state university will be a pace setter to other universities.”
“Knowing fully well that every strategic plan has been careful laid out to guide the process.  
The university will be having one of the best teaching hospitals in Nigeria, where people and students from across Nigeria and around the world are assured of the best treatments and learning environment.”
Dickson however called on stakeholders to invest in quality education, as it is critical to combating nuisance and corruption while building future leaders.
“You either neglect education, to build more prisons and cemetery ” he said.

Having affirmed that the Bayelsa Medical University Yenogoa, has fulfilled every requirements stated by the National Universities commission, Prof. Rasheed presented and handed over the letter of Recognition to the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson.
